School year 2010-2011 is the most difficult times in my teaching carrier. As i mentioned in my previews post, our school lacks of teaching force. Only five are permanent teachers excluding our school head who has been promoted from Teacher-III to Head Teacher-I. He supposedly handle classes but unfotunetly he needs enough time to do his reports in order to submit them on time. Every now and then he attends meetings and seminars the reasons why he gave me the sixth grade which supposedly his advisory class.

The problem gets hotter when our para teacher or teacher aide was pulled-out from our school and reasigned to another school. So, i was obliged to handle the grade four class. To mention my grade V class are 30 pupils, the grade VI has 17 pupils and the fourth grade has 22 pupils. All in all i'm handling 71 pupils in a 7 by 7 sized classroom buiding.

I was shocked, worried and troubled. I didn't know what to do. The other part of my brain said, "quiting is the best way to escape, transfering to another school is also an option" but i encouraged myself to be brave either and take it as a challenge. Everyday as i deliver my lesson, almost of my throat is about to explode for i see to it that everybody is hearing my voice.
Dr. Jose Rizal once said and I qoute: "The Youth Is The Hope Of Our Fatherland." Our national hero needs no eulogy from me or from any other man. He has written his own history and written it in red on his enemy's breast. But when I think of his patience and adversity, of his courage under fire, and of his modesty in victory, I am failed with an emotion of admiration I cannot put into words. He belongs to history of furnishing one of the greatest examples of successful patriotism. He belongs to posterity as the instructor of future generations in the principles of liberty and freedom. He belongs to the present, to us, by his virtues and by his achievements. In various campaigns, on a hundred battlefields, around a thousand campfires, our forefathers have witnessed that enduring fortitude, that patriotic self-abnegation, and that invincible determination which have carved his statue in the hearts of his people. From one end of the world to the other he has drained deep the chalice of courage.

Our national heroes did not die in vain, I do not know the dignity of their birth, but I do know the glory of their death. They died unquestioning, uncomplaining, with faith in their hearts, and on their lips the hope that we could go on to victory. Always, for them: Duty, Honor, Country; always their blood, and sweet and tears, as we sought the way and the light and the truth.

The code which those words perpetuate embraces the highest moral laws and will stand the test of any ethics or philosophies ever promulgated for the uplift of mankind. Its requirements are for the thinngs that are right, and its restraints are from the things that are wrong.

The patriot, above all other men, is required to practice the greatest act of religious training--sacrifice. In battle and in the face of danger and death, He discloses those divine attributes which his Maker gave when He created man in his own image. No physical courage and no brute instinct can take the place of the divine help which alone can sustain him. However horrible the incidents of war may be, our martirs who are called upon to offer and to give their lives for our country is the noblest development of mankind.

You now face a new world--a world of change. The thrust into outer space of the satellite, spheres, and missiles mark the beginning of another epoch in the long story of mankind. In the five or more billions of years the scientists tell us it has taken to form the earth, in the three or more billions of years of development of the human race, there has never been a more abrupt or staggering evololution. We deal now not with things of this world alone, but with the ellimitable distances and as yet unfathomed mysteries of the universe. We are reaching out for a new and boundless frontier.
We live in a world where men's hearts faint for fair, anxiety and uncertainty. The effect of global crisis has shaken the once table economy of a super power "America ". Economic experts and the brightest minds of the country were summoned in an effort to search for solutions to save the economy, but to no avail, the situation only worsen and went out of control on a global unprecedented proportion. It was very alarming, that even giant car manufacturing firms like General Motors and Chrysler underwent mass layoffs and retrenchment, causing thousands of employees displaced and disturbed.

In the Philippines, we are not exempted from man-made disasters and natural calamities. Just recently, we have been devastated by strong typhoons and floods that caused great damage to life and property. Our economy was greatly affected, if not for the dollar remittance in billions by our foreign contract workers and Filipinos on overseas employment, we could not have the economic recession and difficulty.

Today, the scenario may not be all that bad, but we are faced with the challenged to restore the economy to growth, and to strengthen the country's competitiveness in an increasingly independent global market.

I have come to believe that the root of many of our problems is our general lack of a sense of civic duty-our propensity to value self, family, clan, and regional groups above country and people. Put differently, the root of most of our problems is our lack of appreciation for our common destiny as a nation, our lack of national discipline. Discipline is wat we need. Discipline is what will make us a great nation.

There are two qualities that you must posses in order to survive in today's competitive world. These are love of country and self-discipline - qualities, although primordial, seem to be lacking among our young people today.

I challenge our countrymen to serve God and country before oneself, in the same manner that as Filipinos, we should also encourage the gifts of knowledge, love, and aspiration among our people. The greatest challenge of our educators is to continue producing successful persons out of our students based on christian values and ideals.

Duty , honor, country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying points: to build courage when courage seems to fail; to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith; to create haope when hope becomes forlorn.

Unhappily, I posses neither that eloquence of diction, that poetry of imagination, nor that brilliance of metaphor to tell you all that they mean. The unbelievers will say they are but words, but a slogan, but a flamboyant phrase. Every pedant, every demagogue, every cynic, every hypocrite, every troublemaker, and I am sorry to say, some others of an entirely different character, will try to downgrade them even to the extent of mockery and ridicule.

But these are some of the things they do. They build your basic character. They mold you foyour future roles as the custodians of the nation's defense. They make you strong enough to know when you are weak, and brave enough to face yourself when you are afraid. They teach you to be proud and unbending in honest failure, but humble and gentle in success; not to substitute words for actions, not to seek the path of comfort, but to face the stress and spur of difficulty and challenge; to learn to stand up in the storm but to have compassion on those who fall; to master yourslef before you seek to master others; to have a heart that is clean, a goal that is high; to learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep; to reach into the future yet never neglect the past; to be serious yet never to take yourself too seriously; to be modest to that you will remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength. They give you a temper of the will, quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions, a freshness of the deep springs of life, a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of an appetite for adventure over love of ease. They create in your heart the sense of wonder, the unfailing hope of what's next, and the joy and inspiration of life. They teach you in this way to be an officer and a gentleman.

to be continued...

HUMILITY: I've been a proud and ambitious person before. I have high dreams and
expectations in life especially in owning a job that can make me famous.
I always wanted to do things to be known by others. When i became a teacher,
i realized that simple things can be great if you appreciate them and take
them by heart.

OBEDIENCE: As a classroom teacher i always make sure that i carefully follow the
leadership of my school head or principal. We can associate this in
submission to a higher authority. In an institution for example, obedience
very vital because i believe in doing so, troubles and conflicts can
easily be avoided.

FEAR: This is not an emotional phobia resulting to nervous breakdown but this is
a fear of doing wrong. As an educator, we are always expected to have a
character-character somewhat worth of value. As the book of Proverb says that,
" The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom.

HONESTY: If you're honest, you can be trusted. If you can be trusted with
little things, then, expect great and bigger things to come your way.

SPEAK THE RIGHT WORDS: When you're angry and your temper pull you up, just
pause, think and speak the right words. There's no use of
expressing your anger yet destroying your student by saying
negative words.

So what if it's dangerous? That's why she's doing it. It's the danger beyond all doubt which makes things interesting and fun. Phase one has progressed but she lost something. It's funny how things turned out to be totally different when all she wanted was to have a glance at him.

Deception is at stake when they met for the _nth time. He never thought that someone will do silly things like stalking and hiring someone just to keep an eye on him. If you were to ask me, well, that's invading someone's privacy. She did a lot of digging just to get to know him better. A lot of these things were meant to hurt her but she felt better in knowing things that reason alone can't comprehend. He thought and I also did think that she's gone mad.

Days swiftly pass by and sunny side Tuesday made its way to let her see him again. It may not be a pleasant meeting but she's glad she saw him. She could see him from afar as he went through the stall wearing a long sleeve shirt paired with denim pants. He's waiting for a pal to spend his time with that she longed would be hers. She left the place without anyone noticing her and headed home. All throughout the day, all she thought was to be with him even if she knew that every moment spent with him is stolen.

She had to cross the lines the following day and traveled for almost two hours in the same route with the same old self. Right there, she defines happiness as taking a step forward without asking the usual WH's. They met and had dinner together. She knew that the only reason why she was there was to be grilled and he's dying to know how on earth did she get all the infos that she had. She's ready in any way to tell every lie that she has. She TRUSTED her. But now?

He then thought that he has to stay away from her, in a way. His privacy is at stake, everything might fall into pieces. He thought real hard the whole night. He started to freak out not expecting that someone's keeping an eye on him and he's thinking that he has not step into someone just to deserve that freaking stalking thing and all that . With all those interrogations, she knew everything would change. She felt his anger and she knew that it is still rooted int he past. She remembered lines from him that torn her 'coz it's the reality. It's the wonder of alcohol that made his rough side woke up while saying this words:
1) I love her and only few people know that. I missed her a lot.
2) How dare you invade my privacy? You are not in the right place, you're nothing.
3) I TRUSTED you.
4) Why won't you have another guy? You know you can't have me.
5) You’re dangerous. After this, you won't see me again.

She thought about it for a while and had this ideas running on her mind. (I may not be in the place of this person but I exactly know what she feels. Allow me to speak for her. Let me use the pronoun I as a substitute for 'HER'. Just assume that 'I' refers to 'HER' speaking.) For # 1, I know that you love her and you will always do. Did you forget when you said that you will not fall gain 'coz you always get hurt? I know that line refers to her. You missed her? It sucks 'coz I'm here. 2) From the start, i know that I'm nothing to you, it's just that you are my everything. I'm sorry. 3) TRUSTED? I can regain that if you'll just give me a chance. 4) It will just come but for now just let me have you even if it's just a borrowed one. 5) Did I do you harm? I mean, everything that I know is confidential. I promise not to do you harm, won't you believe me? That's harsh. All I wanted was to see you. Many times I've been there, watching you from a distance without you noticing me.

They traveled together on that coastal road and during the duration of that trip, all she hoped for is to stop the time, be with him much longer, and feel his presence because by the time they would walk separately, casual goodbye will say hi and he'll choose to stay out of the picture. Out of her sight, out of my life.

*Events in this story are just a part of delving deeper, an illusion. Some may be exaggerated while others may be true. People have 3 fundamental cravings namely LIFE, TRUTH and LOVE which is compressed in one word which we call HAPPINESS. We search for it in different ways. Let's focus on love. As for the girl, she longs for love as everybody does and we have to admit that we thirst for it. Some may search for it in the right way and find the treasure. Even the wrong way of finding it doesn't argue that we long for it.

As for the characters in this story, this is how fate plays with them. It is but a strange feeling not to have someone that you want. In a way, we can still look at the brighter side of it. Life is a constant change and we have to learn and grow with it. If you were the girl, how would you handle her loss?

She’s back at the corners of that room. Nothing beats that place, her home. It’s where she could do anything. Think free, be free. Outpour of sentiments takes place once she got a hold of that ticking rectangular stuff that does it all. Time check, 12:23 AM.

Solitude covered her entity. Delete that, undo, rephrase- yet again tries to restore a thing that ain’t existing same as not a real thing at all. Was it a mixture of inevitable circumstances or a sheer manifestation of passionate souls?

It echoes a picture painted with colors of bright green, yellow and orange with a touch of contemporary pieces. 730, shuffled, might mean a lot to her.

To be continued…

Illusions exist, nothing real- Delving Deeper Part 3
Thursday, 18 February 2010 at 00:08
Yes, it's a lot. 730 clouded everything.
As expected, the weather's still not good and she feels uneasy to be with him again. She is preoccupied for so many reasons. PPMA while thinking of things beyond his interest. Why did she spend her time with that stranger? She didn't bother that much since she can switch back in forth without giving any one any notice. (That's her illness.)

Hours passed and she feels exhausted of the trip 'coz partly cemented roads made it difficult for her to sleep while traveling. They arrived on time at the place before the sun sets. Vibrant shades of blue, yellow and green made the building look lively with potted flowery plants and small parking space. For those dudes and dudettes who love to eat, a restaurant can be found at the right side facing the building that can somehow accommodate your cravings. A young lady who speaks a certain language (as if someone's chasing her) with an exaggerated smile, yellow overcoat with a patterned blouse underneath, neatly fixed hair, and an accent that made them giggle greeted them on their way inside. She handed him the keys that brought them to their resting place.

As they walk in, pastel painted walls complimented the delicately colorful architectural pieces which made the room look pleasing despite the limited space it has. A closet can be found on the left side, adjacent to the bed with soft cushions and neatly folded linens, that automatically turns on when opened. It has a TV, heater and an air-conditioned unit that later malfunctioned. Hahaha! The facilities are quite good, she thought. They pamper themselves and prepared for dinner.

Off they went to a resto by the seaside with stalls made of bamboo. It was still a bit rainy and the cold moderate air slaps her face while he takes hold of things like talking to someone on the phone while geting orders for their meal to be prepared. She met his two partners in crime namely: michael 'J' and dingdong. Michael is a not-so-blessed-with-height teenage guy who desperately fall for a girl but never had her share in their relationship built with lies and deceit. She didn't know that much about dingdong since all throughout the night, all she could remember was Micheal's story. They had fresh tinolang isda, BBQ, and sizzling spicy sisig for the night paired with icy cold beer for the night.

She’s staring in a room painted with pastel colors in shades of blue and green- thinking of something to inscribe that’s from within. It’s almost two in the morning (1:51am) but she can’t sleep in the sight of his reflection wherever she turn her face to.

She heard his voice for the last 9 hours and 52 minutes, so that’s 4:29 PM, just to discern one thing. “I terribly missed him,” she thought.

Here comes the memorabilia-
chanson.

Passing by the coastal roads started it all on that gloomy afternoon. The ball of fire hides while the sky weeps as the furious waves hit the shores of Oriental. Nature itself indicates admonition of obnoxious occurrence that she thought might come but she decided to pursue the plan. She had 2nd thoughts but his manifestation took it all away. He is completely the opposite of how horrid the surroundings act.

Masculinity can be seen in his petite appearance. Oh my… How can she forget those alluring eyes that made her think about him the first night they met? Hahaha.. And to mention the mole in his face made him look cute. Wearing a patterned polo paired with white sneakers suits him best. “Pormalidad in his way of clothing,” was all she could say at the back of her mind.

Sweet melody that flows from his lips filled the air on their way. Oh that voice that she’d love to hear over and over again! She would stare at him like there’s no tomorrow and in her innate being how she’d wish she could have him longer- like eternity. But she knew it won’t happen even in dreams.

SPEAK THE RIGHT WORDS: When you're angry and your temper pull you up, just
pause, think and speak the right words. There's no use of
expressing your anger yet destroying your student by saying
negative words.

I. TITLE : Termites as Food for Chicken

II.ABSTRACT:

This study shows that termites, which are considered as serious pest because of their capability of destroying houses and other wooden structures, can be considered as useful in terms of source of food for our farm flocks like chickens. The researcher prepared three (3) chickens (3-4 months old) with the same weight, sizes and variety and placed each chicken in a pen. Then fed each of them with the same amount of food. One chicken with pellets, the other with crack corn and the last with termites. Observed for three weeks, their growth and weight. Then recorded the observation and compared the results.

After thorough study, an experiment was done and the investigator found out that the chicken that was fed with termites was the heaviest and the biggest among the three.

III. INTRODUCTION:

A. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

One of the problems that threatens the lives of the people in our country today is hunger. Its cold-claws grip the neck of our people, leaving them helpless and in pain. We hear from the radio we see in the television, its effect; babies sucking the breast of their dead mothers, children begging for some foods in the streets, school children who go to school with empty stomach.

Because of the high prices of all commodities, these includes food supply to our farm animals, our people cannot afford to raise even chickens-how much more to raise their families?

Our leaders must act now or it might be too late. The problem on food shortage that cause hunger among the people needs a vigorous program on food production.

Research were made on termites, one of the deadliest pests found almost everywhere in our place. After several experiment conducted by the researcher, it was found out that termites can be a good source of food for raising chickens. They are destructive that you can curse when they attacked your house but if they will be raised properly, they will be of help to us in raising chickens especially to our poor people who cannot afford to but feeds for them.

Termites are the common name of a group of insects that live in communities somewhat ants do. It is called " Anay" in one of the Filipino dialects. Its scientific name is "Termitidae".
Termite digest wood, paper, and other materials containing cellulose, with aid of protozoa in their bodies. They do much damage in tunneling through the wooden work of house, destroy books and furnitures. They are so many and almost everywhere.

B. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study is purposely conducted to provide significant information about raising termites to be used as food consumption on poultry flock particularly chickens, which can compete with common feeds as far as nutritive value is concerned.

C. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY:

a. General
To raise termites as food substitute from commercial feeds which are more nutritious and accessible in our environment even without money.

b. Specific
1. To utilize termites into food substitute for chickens
2. To counter act inflation rate of feeds supply.
3. To help poor families to have an income generating project such as chicken raising.

D. LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The study is limited only on termites as food consumption for raising chickens.

IV. THE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

A. Material/Ingredients

The testing was performed with the use of three (3) chickens 3-4 months old with the same weight, sizes and variety. Termites, as food substitute. Each chicken is placed in a pen. Each of them with foods. One chicken with pellets, the other with crack corn and the last, with termites. Their growth and weight were observed for three weeks and the results were recorded and compared.

V. RESULT AND FINDINGS

A. Findings

After a thorough study, the investigator found out that the chicken that was fed with termites was the heaviest and biggest among the three.

B. RESULT AFTER THREE WEEKS

chicken Before Pellets Crack Corn Termites Result

1 245grams 350grams Heavier/bigger

2 245grams 250grams Heavy/big

3 245grams 550grams Heaviest/biggest

VI. CONCLUSION

The researcher therefore concluded that termites can be a good food substitute for chicken. It can also lessen expenses to people who wanted to raise chicken but cannot afford to buy commercial one.

VII. RECOMENDATION

Based on the result of the experiment, the investigator recommends the following:

1. Termites should be raised as food substitute for raising chickens.
2. Discarded books and magzines instead of burning them should be used to feed termites.
3. Further experiment should be conducted to improve this study.

Four years ago, i was assigned as a grade five teacher in one of the mountainous areas of the Municipality of Calatrava, Negros Occidental, Philippines. In my wildest dreams, i never desired to be a teacher and seriously never dreamed to be assigned to teach in the mountain. I always wanted to land a cool job like in the office where i believe i can maintain my physical appearance. It's in my mind that working in the office can make a person feel young and look good. So, i tried many times but to no avail, i failed and nothing happened.

Since i was the one among the children expected to help and perform the duty of my elder sister and brother who got married at an early age, i humbly accepted the call to serve.

The place was eighteen kilometers (18km) away from the proper. No communications, no electricity, classrooms were made of wood; temporarily built by parents who just wanted to help their small community to have an elementary school. The school was supposed to be closed during that time because of the lack of facilities, teachers and classrooms. Some parents wouldn't allow their children to enroll for the same reasons. There were only three (3) good classroom buliding intended for grades one, two and six. Others were all built temporarily.

As i've learned to submit myself to the call where i am now, i began to see poor faces. Poor in the sense that, they were children empty of the things they needed to know in life. As i devote myself to the work, i felt something has changed inside of me. I believe passion has birth inside my heart that time. " The passion to for children ". As it is said, " Many are called but few are chosen ". I therefore realized that i was chosen, i was called and created for a purpose. I was sent to be a blessing especially to the children in the mountains. Because as a teacher i believe, i mold not only the mental ability of the child but his whole being as well. The physical, the emotional, the social and the spiritual being. Therefore, " teaching is the noblest calling of all "
